Philosophy (online)

A general introduction into the main problems (and branches) of philosophy. What is philosophy? What is it about? What do philosophers do? Lecture topics include metaphysics, epistemology (knowledge), philosophy of mind (mind/body relations), ethics (right and wrong). While the emphasis is on Western philosophy, we will also consider Chinese and Indian philosophy.

Lajos Brons

Lajos Brons (石橋ラヨス) has taught philosophy courses at Lakeland’s Japan campus from 2012 until he moved to Sado island in 2024. He has published journal articles and books about a variety of philosophical topics. His most recent book is A Buddha Land in This World: Philosophy, Utopia, and Radical Buddhism (Punctum Books, 2022).
